The Oaks day is known as 'Girl Friday' as it is the day when the fillies race in The Vodafone Oaks over a mile and a half, the fillies equivalent to the Derby. The lady guests also take centre stage on this day. The Epsom racecourse itself provides the ultimate test for the world's finest thoroughbreds. The perfection of the turf in the summer sunshine deceives the eye into ironing out the steep incline, the deceptive cambers and the unforgiving descent into Tattenham Corner.
